Founded by one-time Napalm Death vocalist Lee Dorrian, Cathedral mixes Sabbathy doom riffs and psychedelic influences to create a sound that arguably has started a minor new trend in metal. The debut Forest Of Equilibrium, is unbearably slow doom, but things began to pick up on The Ethereal Mirror, and the more recent Supernatural Birth Machine the 70's influences are more prevalent, resulting in (in my opinion) their best album yet. In addition to his Cathedral duties, Dorrian owns and runs Rise Above Records, a small British independent label specializing in all things doomy. The new album, Caravan Beyond Redemption, was released earlier this year.
